GRANDMA
INT. KITCHEN - DAY
JOANN and GRANDMA sit at the kitchen table. They are both tense.
JOANN
Can I get you some coffee?
GRANDMA
No.
JOANN
Okay.
(sighs)
Tea?
GRANDMA
No.
JOANN rubs her eyes.
JOANN
I can’t stay here all day grandma, I have work at 11.
GRANDMA grumbles. They sit in silence again.
JOANN
Did you eat today?
GRANDMA
No.
JOANN
Okay, maybe you need some food.
GRANDMA
No.
JOANN
Maybe some mac and cheese?
GRANDMA
NO!
JOANN
I don’t know what you want. Why did you call me over?
GRANDMA mumbles.
JOANN
I can’t hear you, gram.
GRANDMA mumbles some more.
JOANN
Do you need help taking a bath?
GRANDMA
No.
JOANN
How about a cup of coffee, Gram. It might help you.
GRANDMA
I’M READY TO DIE!
Big pause.
JOANN
Right now?
GRANDMA
Yes.
JOANN
Gram, I got work at 11.
GRANDMA
NOW!
JOANN
NO!
Beat. GRANDMA mumbles.
JOANN
What?
Grandma mumbles.
JOANN
GRAM! I can’t hear you!
GRANDMA
After work?
Pause.
JOANN
Yeah, okay. Be ready.
GRANDMA
cool.
JOANN
(grabbing her purse)
Mhm.
JOANN gets up to leave and opens the door.
JOANN
I better be in the will!
JOANN leaves. GRANDMA sits at the table.
GRANDMA
Never.
END.
