ALLY
Based on a creepy dream my friend Tiffany had.
INT. HALLWAY - DAY
ALLY stands inside an elaborate, white marble hallway with columns jutting up to the sky and windows frosted over. The air is crisp. It’s quiet. No sound of breath or creaking.
ALLY looks around. Her skin is dull and bloodless except for her cheeks which burn bright pink. She wears a white smock with little lace designs of people she’s never met.
A figure, GOD, moves across the hallway on the far end. They have on a long, golden robe. He emerges again and walks straight towards ALLY.
ALLY’s ears go numb. She hears underwater. As GOD gets closer, we see his face shift to a thousand faces every second.
GOD touches her shoulder. She fills with a golden glow and then falls through the floor.
As she descends, her ears begin to burn up and her eyes turn completely white. She lands brutally on a heavy, hot stone.
She looks around. She is in a dirty hallway with weeds growing through the windows which have now turned a depressing gray. Her smock has become dark red.
GOD’S BROTHER emerges in front of her. He lends his hand. She gets up with bruises developing all around her body.
GOD’S BROTHER
Welcome.
ALLY cannot open her mouth.
GOD’S BROTHER
Ally. Shall we walk?
Ally pries at her lips until they separate.
ALLY
Who are you?
GOD’S BROTHER
The brother.
ALLY
Why did he let me fall?
GOD’S BROTHER
(sighing)
Because he is cruel.
ALLY
Am I below?
GOD’S BROTHER
Yes.
(beat)
Ally, you need to know that not all people were created with a purpose.
ALLY
I was.
GOD’S BROTHER
No, Ally. Some people were simply mistakes.
ALLY
I’m not a mistake.
GOD’S BROTHER
Some people are not meant to be and yet they are. They come here.
ALLY
Hell.
GOD’S BROTHER
(laughing)
It’s a grey area.
ALLY
Purgatory?
GOD’S BROTHER
It is the nothing to which you were supposed to belong.
ALLY
But it’s not nothing.
GOD’S BROTHER
Not yet.
ALLY
When?
GOD’S BROTHER
When I decide.
ALLY
I want to be purposeful.
GOD’S BROTHER
I’m so sorry, Ally.
ALLY
Let me talk to them.
GOD’S BROTHER
You do not matter to them.
ALLY
Let me out of here.
GOD’S BROTHER
(sighing)
If you insist.
ANGEL emerges from the rafters. They are clogged with eyes that fill their whole body. Their wings are ratted like a sick pigeons.
GOD’S BROTHER
Take her.
ALLY
Take me back.
GOD’S BROTHER
You will see, Ally.
The ANGEL grabs ALLY with its claws and squeezes her ribs tightly. They descend lower.
ALLY’s eyes turn completely black. The ANGEL starts to lose its eyes one by one as it falls.
ALLY is released back into the white hallway. GOD slouches over something. Their gold robe spread wide. ALLY approaches them.
ALLY
How dare you.
GOD turns to reveal a sickly creature with a thousand shifting faces of deadly animals. Their lips are submerged in a red goo and the eyes remain bloodshot.
ALLY steps back, shocked.
GOD stands up. They are twenty feet tall. Behind them lay a version of Ally with a ripped out heart and a crystal blue body.
GOD
Welcome.
ALLY
How dare you.
GOD
You are a mistake, Ally.
Tears begin to fall loosely off ALLY.
GOD
I can make mistakes.
ALLY
You chose to make a mistake.
GOD smiles with long, sharp teeth. They return back to the body.
